This design was created in response to the homeowners’ request to update a kitchen in a small home that was built in 1980.  The cabinets were short, had little depth, and the entire kitchen lacked storage space. Even though the priority was to increase storage, the homeowners’ wish list included the ability to have some space for decorating as well. The work flow and prep space was just not at all adequate. In addition, the “look” of the kitchen was not in keeping with the rest of the home’s transitional décor.

We addressed all of the above with this design that offers floor to ceiling custom cabinets with plenty of storage. The island (which was not there), offers additional storage options and provides a great food prep area. The pantry was repositioned and large, pull-out drawers maximize space and storage.  Pull-out trash bin, lazy susan additions for corner cabinets, and soft close drawer glides make this outdated kitchen look and feel like new.

For decorating and displaying collectibles, this design incorporates shelves on the island and glass shelves. The transition from dark, stained cabinets to these custom, white painted ones, serve to significantly open up and brighten the space.
