This is a kitchen remodeling project we are currently completing. The large kitchen was formerly separated from the adjoining family room by a long wall. It had stained cabinets with a 12” space at the top and featured a small center island. The granite was dark with golden background. The homeowners’ wishes were for a very large and open kitchen concept. Because his family entertains a lot, they wanted a much larger island for gathering and wished to totally open up the kitchen and family room as one area.
Incorporating supporting beam structure, we are completely eliminating the wall between the two rooms. With the exact style and color that our customer was seeking, cabinets are currently being built by our custom cabinet maker. The new cabinets will go floor to ceiling and feature dimensional interest instead of the straight lines of the former ones. The island will almost double in size. A unique granite has been selected to coordinate perfectly with the cabinet paint, flooring, and subway tile back-splash.
The homeowner is transitioning from a warm, golden environment to a cooler, gray and white theme. While in the process of remodeling the kitchen, we will also be painting the family room to create that “one room” flow.
